Danish companies are European AI frontrunners

According to a newly published report made by the largest private AI lab in the Nordics, Silo AI, 24 % of all Danish companies use AI. This puts Denmark at the top of the EU, with Portugal at 17% (2nd place) and 16 % in Finland (3rd place). The report “State of AI in the Nordics” is based on statistics from Eurostat and underscores that Denmark is a leading nation when it comes to AI.

Silo AI points to Danish strongholds focusing on excellent health data and sustainability as areas where Denmark stands out in terms of AI. This is supported by the fact that Denmark has been portrayed as a frontrunner when it comes to using AI in fighting climate change by the European Parliament.

The report praises the increased funding and political support for AI research including the new AI Pioneer Center hosted by Copenhagen University and the Danish National Strategy for AI. With several leading universities within AI research and 66 education programs, Denmark’s is becoming increasingly attractive for AI development.

As highlighted in the report, it is clear that the private sector plays a strong role in driving the demand for AI development in Denmark. Among the largest Danish enterprises more than 66 % are using AI and close to 70% of them plan to increase their AI adoption in the coming year. In addition, VC investments in AI in Denmark has increased by 200 % in the last year.
