Consistent policy support and technological advancements have enabled a rapid increase in the production of biogas. In 2020, biogas constituted 20% of Denmarks entire consumption. There are sufficient amounts of industrial, agricultural and household waste to increase production from 20 petajoules in 2020 to 94 petajoules in 2040.  Methanisation (Power to Gas) could increase this amount by an additional 35 petajoules.
