Bulk Infrastructure expands presence in Denmark with a colocation data centre

The Norwegian data centre operator, Bulk Infrastructure, expands its presence in Denmark from subsea fibre cables to the establishment of a scalable carrier neutral colocation data centre. Denmark’s low latency and excellent fibre connectivity to Europe and the US were decisive factors.

When

Bulk Infrastructure’s new colocation data centre will be located a 5-hectare site in Esbjerg, Denmark – close to where the new subsea fibre network, the so-called Havfrue subsea cable, will connect Denmark with the US.

“Esbjerg is already well connected with multiple terrestrial carriers to all sea cables in the North Sea area, which will serve as the perfect place to develop a neutral traffic exchange point in Denmark,”
says Peder Nærbø, Founder and Chairman at Bulk Infrastructure AS in Norway.

According to Bulk Infrastructure, Esbjerg will come to play a key role in providing ongoing connectivity to the data centers deployments in Denmark and the Nordics in general.

Esbjerg´s strategic location on the west coast of Denmark is viewed as ideal and will soon become a major gateway to Northern Europe and the Nordics.

This is a very exciting development we see in the Esbjerg area, with Bulk's plan to establish a Carrier Neutral Colocation Data Centre. Invest in Denmark is following the developments closely and we expect more investments of this type in the area.

Invest in Denmark

Bulk plans to co-build additional subsea cables in the North Sea with connection to Esbjerg by the end of 2019.

“Now, we can accommodate for carriers to optimise traffic flows into both Denmark and Norway. With Esbjerg on the map, we can continue to develop the Nordic region as a platform for sustainable digital infrastructure,” adds Peder Nærbø.
