Denmark ranks fifth in competing for talent in the new Global Talent Competitiveness Index recently published by the business school INSEAD.

Launched for the first time in 2013, the Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) is an annual benchmarking report that measures the ability of countries to compete for talent. The report ranks over 100 countries according to their ability to grow, attract and retain talent.
This year, Denmark is back in top five as the highest ranking Scandinavian country. The fifth place is an improvement from last year’s eighth place – an achievement that illustrates Denmark’s prioritisation of the global talent attraction agenda.
Access to skilled labour is often a key reason for foreign companies to choose Denmark. Attracting and retaining a well-educated, self-managed and top-motivated labour force in Denmark is an asset to any company, whether it is for R&D activities, a Nordic headquarter or advanced production. My hope is that the new INSEAD report will help Denmark attract even more talents and foreign companies.

The report indicates that the key attribute among all the high-ranking countries is striking the right balance between economic, social and political imperatives. This is shown in their capacity to adopt and shape policies that preserve their talent pipeline as the countries consistently achieve a positive balance between encouraging local talent and tapping into top talent from other countries.
According to the report, Denmark excels in its ability to enable and grow talent which is a result of the country’s government effectiveness, ease of doing business, ease of hiring, and not least due to the fact that 'formal education is among the best in the world'.
Furthermore, the access to growth opportunities is ranked first in the world - a variable which comprises i.a. empowerment through freedom of voice and delegation of authority as key growth drivers.
The Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) is an annual benchmarking study measuring the ability of countries to compete for talent. The GTCI combines the academic research and expertise of INSEAD and Singapore's Human Capital Leadership Institute with the business experience and perspective of Adecco.
Designed as a practical tool for governments, businesses and non-profit organisations, GTCI ranks over 100 economies according to their ability to develop, attract and retain talent.
