Denmark just launched the Danish Chips Competence Centre to advance chip technology nationally and across Europe. This new initiative, supported by EU and national funding through the European Chips Act, aims to provide SME’s and start-ups with access to cutting-edge facilities and expertise in chip design and fabrication.

The Chip Competence Centre is set to expedite research and innovation in the chip industry, fostering pioneering solutions to address global challenges such as the green transition and societal resilience, ensuring a more sustainable and robust future. By offering a streamlined access to state-of-the-art facilities and research-based knowledge, the centre aims to lower the threshold for companies in designing and fabricating chips, particularly quantum chips. These chips are poised to revolutionize industries by enabling unprecedented computational power, enhancing security, and driving breakthroughs in fields such as healthcare, energy, and artificial intelligence.
The Chip Competence Centre will serve as a central hub, connecting companies to both Danish and European networks and resources, thereby fostering growth and collaboration in the chip sector.
The centre is a consortium comprising Denmark’s Technical University’s Nanolab, Aarhus University’s ECE-lab, University of Copenhagen's Niels Bohr Institute, Danish Fundamental Metrology, and Danish Industry.
Each partner contributes specialized expertise, covering the entire process from chip design to fabrication and in-situ test. This collaboration ensures that Danish companies have access to a robust network and resources, promoting growth, collaboration, and market opportunities in the chip sector.
