Steeper Energy is expanding operations in Denmark based on its Hydrofaction® technology to create advanced biofuels for heavy and long-haul transport.

Recently, along with 17 partners, Steeper Energy received funding of 30 million DKK from the Danish Innovation Fund for a project aiming at commercialising biofuels for aviation and maritime transportation. The technology transforms bio waste and residual biomass into advanced biofuels within 20 minutes.

When

Since 2011, the majority Canadian owned company, Steeper Energy, has been present in Denmark. It started with a small R&D office in Zealand and a pilot plant for the production of biofuels from lignocellulosic biomass located at Aalborg University.

In collaboration with Professor Lasse Rosendahl, a biofuels expert at Aalborg University, Steeper Energy set up a proof-of-concept facility at the University’s premises. The company and Professor Rosendahl have conducted many joint research projects. In 2016 Steeper Energy set up its European head office in Hørsholm.

Now, Steeper Energy continues to strengthen its R&D activities in Denmark.

Steeper Energy has hundreds of granted and pending patents across the globe and has fully proved the technology at its existing pilot operations in Denmark.


The company is now expanding its Danish work-force and commercialising Hydrofaction® across Denmark, Europe and North America based on the development work emanating from both its Danish and Canadian demonstration hubs.

ABOUT STEEPER ENERGY

Steeper Energy’s founders have over 30 years of experience in renewable transport fuels and catalytic chemistry as well as a background in utilities and renewable energy project development. It has raised tens of millions of dollars of equity from TOM Capital based in Calgary Canada as well as many millions in grant support from both the Danish and Canadian governments.


The Danish company, Steeper Energy ApS (SEA) is the repository for its patented hydrothermal technology (“HTL”) known as Hydrofaction® and Steeper Energy Canada Limited (SEC) is developing a series of commercial projects as well as the home for Steeper’s Advanced Biofuel Laboratory advancing the state-of-the-art in upgrading HTL biocrude.
