Denmark continues to grow as a European digital hub as Meta (former Facebook) announces plans for expansion of its current data center in Odense. This new investment underlines Denmark’s position is one of the most interesting countries to plan future facilities of green data centers.
When
Meta’s plan to construct two new buildings at the existing campus in Odense will add additional 90,000 sqm (corresponding to just over 13 football pitches) to the area. The construction is scheduled to begin in April 2022.
Invest in Denmark has been supporting and advising Meta in the process of establishing the data centers in Denmark. Site selection and contact with Danish authorities are among the tasks that Invest in Denmark has assisted Meta with.

There are several reasons for Denmark’s leading potential as a European digital hub. The political and economic environment is a primary reason owing to the country’s stable and AAA-rated economy. Moreover, established plants will be close to consumers in Central Europe and within a stretch of good power opportunities. The availability of large-scale sites at low prices gives data center operators the opportunity to establish bigger investment projects that aims to implement environmental friendly data centres.
