U.S.-based Intuitive is best known for its da Vinci surgical system, which enhances minimally invasive surgical procedures in hospitals across the world. This is also the case in Denmark, where da Vinci systems are installed in a number of hospitals across the country.
When
As the capabilities of robotic-assisted surgery are rapidly advancing, there is a growing need to provide the appropriate technical training to surgeons for them to take full advantage of the da Vinci technologies. At the same time, Intuitive is helping hospitals maximize efficiency, uncover cost savings, increase utilization and more.
The ideal partner to achieve this in Denmark was identified in CAMES, a large life-science-focused training center located in Copenhagen near the Copenhagen University Hospital.
CAMES was created more than 20 years ago to increase the quality and safety of patient care. CAMES does this through teaching, research and development of medical education, and simulation-based training in close partnership with companies and clinicians.

With objectives closely aligned, CAMES will host two da Vinci surgical systems. Once fully operational, Intuitive will have its own dedicated space where its staff can welcome course participants from across Northern Europe.

CAMES is one of the largest simulation centers in Europe with more than 20 years’ experience in simulation-based training. CAMES’ intention is to ensure that all employees in the health care system are prepared for their daily work with the patients. CAMES collaborates internationally with industry and clinical specialties in designing courses, practical execution and assessments.
The facility invites industry, such as leading medical equipment manufacturer, to set-up own state-of-the-art training spaces, while being in close cooperative contact with CAMES research-based training competencies.
