Denmark is the perfect hub
According to Søren Birkelund Pedersen, Special Advisor at Invest in Denmark, the match between the massive growth in the fashion and textile industry in Denmark and the solutions, Greenway Logistics provides, is obvious:
“Denmark is a geographically natural logistics hub to Scandinavia, the Baltic Sea Region and Northern Europe – with next day delivery access to approximately 500 million consumers. The Danish fashion industry’s total revenue amounts to nearly EUR 5.6 billion and this number is growing. With a 25% increase in e-commerce annually, logistics will only become even more important for the retail sector. Denmark is already known for its specialised and high value services within logistics, where a flexible and agile company like Greenway Logistics demonstrates a good match in the link between retail and logistics,” he says.
Tapping in to valuable local knowledge communities
Not only Greenway Logistics benefit from the establishment of an office in Herning, Denmark. Back in 2015, the company started collaborating with the trade association Dansk Fashion and Textile and in 2016 Greenway Logistics entered into a partnership with the Danish branch organisation for sports suppliers Sportsbranchen Danmark. According to Willem-Jan Drost, partnerships are crucial for the success of an establishment:
“In many ways, the business environment in Denmark is similar to what we have experienced in Holland and Sweden, which is where our offices are located so far. However, with powerful trade associations behind us we expect to roll out our services in a much faster way than usual,” he explains.
