Having a physical presence in Denmark, is a natural progression for the studio established in 2011 by Dane Jonas Upton-Hansen, who over time has developed a design approach which merges Danish and Scandinavian design with a more recognisable international style, resulting in striking and iconic developments across three continents. Furthermore, the ease and transparency of doing business in Denmark made it an attractive market for the studio to explore.
With the opening of UHA Denmark, the company plans to further develop its unique design approach, with a specific focus on exploring the Danish social approach to housing in the context of high-rise building design.
Global demand for Danish competencies
According to Peter Gram Jørgensen, Senior Associate in Upton-Hansen Architects, Danish architecture has a uniqueness to it, which is in high demand on a global scale. Hence, the decision to establish an office in Copenhagen was primarily based on an urge to connect with Danish companies and consultancies.
