With the 2020 acquisition of Controlled Polymers, U.S. designer and manufacturer Americhem joins the Danish sustainable polymer manufacturer in its goal to produce the greenest compounds in the world.
When
Americhem is an innovative, technology-driven front runner in the global polymer industry. The U.S. company designs and manufacturers custom color master batch, functional additives, engineered compounds and performance technologies out ofits R&D facilities and headquarters located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
In 2020, Americhem acquired Controlled Polymers, a Danish supplier of sustainable polymeric solutions located in Ribe, Denmark. Controlled Polymers aims to minimise its environmental impact and is - together with Americhem - now leading the way in becoming one of the greenest compounds in the world. The post-merger phase involved hiring skilled workers and a consolidation of European production activities in Ribe. One year in, Americhem has successfully expanded the Danish entity from 50 employees at time of acquisition to 77 employees.
Denmark is a leading country on sustainable manufacturing and circular business models. By acquiring Controlled Polymers, Americhem gains access to price competitive green energy and the ability to tap into a cost effective ecosystem which promotes a circular approach to manufacturing. Furthermore, the manufacturing industry in Denmark is in close collaboration with the Danish world-class, innovative automation and robotics cluster, and offers a central location for manufacturers interested in doing business in Europe.

After Americhem’s acquisition of Controlled Polymers in 2020, Invest in Denmark has been assisting in the post-merger integration phase of Americhem’s activities in Denmark. This includes assisting Americhem in making Controlled Polymers the future European headquarter through both investments made in Ribe and by consolidating other European activities in Denmark.
Americhem’s acquisition of the Danish company also includes a wide range of skilled staff recruiting with the aim to match the high standards for Danish labor standards.
