Why Denmark LONG-TERM GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR GREEN TRANSITION

  • Denmark has excellent, low-risk framework conditions due to consistent government support for biogas.

  • Biogas plays a crucial role in the government’s green transition strategy.

  • The Climate Act commits the government to achieve a 70% reduction in emissions by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.

  • The 2020 Climate Action Plan sets out concrete initiatives for achieving the 70%-target. This includes initiatives and subsidy schemes for the biogas sector amounting to a total of DKK 11 billion before 2044.
