New Copenhagen bioscience PhD programme
In the month of September 2016, fourteen international students will kick-off the Copenhagen Bioscience PhD Programme – a new interdisciplinary PhD Programme within biomedicine and biotechnology.
Combines the best of American and European PhD education
The fully funded four-year programme is divided into a predoctoral year followed by three years of PhD training at one of the Novo Nordisk Foundation research centres located in Greater Copenhagen. The initiative is a unique new concept for PhD education in Denmark with applicants applying to a programme and not to a specific PhD supervisor.
The Copenhagen Bioscience PhD Programme is designed to combine the best aspects of American and European/Danish PhD education, producing well-rounded, independent, critically thinking scientists in an optimal time frame.
Application for 2017 opens in October
Up to sixteen students will be recruited annually through the programme for enrolment in September the same year.
Programme spans the following four research centres:
- Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research
- Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability
- Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research
- Novo Nordisk Foundation Section for Basic Stem Cell Biology
For students to be enrolled in September 2017, the programme will be open for applications from October to December 2016.
Students will be selected based on academic achievements, research experience, academic references and interviews. The interviews will take place in Copenhagen in March 2017.
