Future Quantum-Secure Network Established Between Danish Ministries

To enhance government communication security and stay ahead of technological developments, four Danish universities and four ministries have collaborated on the Danish Quantum Communication Infrastructure project - The first step towards establishing a national quantum-secure network.

QCI.DK is the Danish component of EuroQCI, an EU initiative aimed at creating a quantum communication network between member states using quantum key distribution technology. The project aims to establish a secure network that will protect sensitive government information, ensure communication integrity between ministries, and educate partners and stakeholders in quantum key distribution (QKD), the underlying quantum technology used in the network.

The project illustrates a true triple-helix collaboration as the research collaboration also involves the Danish e-infrastructure Cooperation (DeiC) and the company Quantum Sparrow.

"QCI.DK is a unique project that demonstrates strong collaboration between universities, authorities, and private companies to address the challenge of future data security. Together, the parties will translate promising quantum technologies into a concrete infrastructure that can ensure Denmark's continued leadership in the quantum technology field."
Rasmus Larsen Provost and Executive Vice President at DTU

This network will also serve as a blueprint for future quantum networks that can be used by businesses and individuals for secure communication, making it particularly interesting for foreign investors who are looking to invest in Denmark's growing technology sector.

The establishment of a quantum-secure network demonstrates that Denmark is home to several world-class research institutions and has a government who is committed to advancing technologies and innovation that have the potential to transform the way we live and work.
