Denmark ranked as European leader in innovation

Denmark maintains its top ranking in a new European Innovation Scoreboard hot off the press from the European Commission.

For the third consecutive year, Denmark is ranked as number two on the list of the most innovative countries in the European Innovation Scoreboard 2016 (EIS) and once again titled 'innovation leader', together with Sweden, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands.

Unique innovation ecosystem

According to the European Commission, Denmark can be classified as an innovation leader as the country excels at “open, excellent and attractive research systems, linkages and entrepreneurship, and intellectual assets. In particular in international scientific co-publications and public-private co-publications, the country is performing well above the EU average.”

The scoreboard confirms that Denmark’s unique combination of a well-educated, creative workforce and an exceptional tradition for public-private collaboration boosts innovation. This can serve as an asset to any company, whether it is for R&D activities, a Nordic HQ or advanced production. My hope is that the new EC report will help Denmark attract even more talents and foreign companies.

World-class research and development

Denmark is known world-wide for its high quality and ground-breaking research and development activities. Danish research institutions are among the most well-renowned in the world when it comes to areas related to life science and renewable energy. This is, among other things, due to the country’s unique interplay and cooperation between industry players and research institutions.
