Denmark joins the top of the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2021

Once again, Denmark joins the top of the most competitive economies. This year, Denmark is ranked the third most competitive economy in the world and second most competitive economy in the EU. 
Recently, IMD World Competitiveness Centre released the new 2021 World Competitiveness Ranking. The ranking analyses and ranks the capacity of countries to create and maintain an environment, which sustains the competitiveness of enterprises. The overall ranking is based upon four main competitiveness factors: Economic Performance (#17), Government Efficiency (#7), Business Efficiency (#1) & Infrastructure (#3).

As the third most competitive economy, Denmark is one of the best countries in the world to run a business in. In fact, for the past five years, Denmark has been part of the top 10. In this year's ranking, Denmark outperforms other countries in serveral categories:

  • Public-Private Partnerships #1 
  • Sustainable Development Goals #1

About IMD’s Competitiveness Ranking

The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook asses how economies are able to generate long-term value for its citizens. It is the 33rd edition and this year’s ranking includes 64 economies worldwide. The evaluation composes of 255 ranked criteria with 163 hard criteria (statistics from international and regional sources) and 92 survey data (international panel of experts’ executive opinion survey).
