Denmark is a frontrunner in Global Connectivity Index

In the Global Connectivity Index 2017 by Huawei, Denmark outperforms most countries in all five technology enablers: broadband, data centres, cloud, big data and IoT.

A strong ICT infrastructure, especially one that enables cloud capabilities, is the gateway to the digital transformation reshaping a nation’s industries, companies and the way people live and work.

Denmark ranks number six in the Global Connectivity Index 2017 by Huawei. The index ranks nations’ status in ICT infrastructure investment, adoption, experience and future potential as they work toward the Digital Economy.

Comprehensive public digitisation

Denmark’s new eGovernment Strategy 2016-2020 aims to spur the digitalisation of public administration. The strategy focusses on making printed forms of letters redundant, creating new welfare services and spurring the sharing and reuse of available public sector solutions and data.

One of the main goals of Denmark’s previous eGovernment Strategy was the creation of ‘Digital Post’. Its establishment allows citizens and companies to correspond electronically with public authorities. Furthermore, the plan resulted in over 100 digital self-service eGovernment solutions and the roll-out of nationwide telemedicine and welfare technology.

Denmark as digital frontrunner

Denmark is a ’Frontrunner’, outperforming most countries in all five technology enablers included in the index; broadband, data centres, cloud, big data and IoT.

Frontrunners (average GDP per capita of USD 50,000) are mostly developed economies, continually boosting digital user experience by using big data and IoT to develop more intelligent and efficient societies.

Due to increasing investment, deployment and integration of cloud services, big data and IoT, Frontrunners are empowered to move faster and farther ahead to the cutting edge of innovation in 5G, artificial intelligence, smart cities, e-government, and smart manufacturing.

These advanced technologies are also instrumental to innovation, transforming industries, launching companies and creating jobs.
