At the world’s largest aviation conference, World Routes, airlines from around the world chose Copenhagen Airport as one the world’s best airports for route development in the category of airports with 20 to 50 million passengers.
The judging panel was impressed by Copenhagen Airport’s significant growth, in the first six months of 2016. 13.7 million passengers passed through the airport, which is an increase of 11%.
Route development creates economic development and growth
According to DAMVAD Analytics, the growth of Copenhagen Airport will boost Denmark’s gross domestic product (GDP) by DKK 31 billion and increase employment in the airport and related companies by 11,700 jobs.
Within the past six months alone, Copenhagen Airport has generated growth and jobs in Denmark valued at around DKK 1.7 billion.
DKK 1.7 billion is very significant extra contribution to Denmark’s prosperity by Copenhagen Airport. This is why we’re focused on getting even more routes and, consequently, more connectivity and growth, benefitting all of Denmark.
New routes strengthen connectivity
Copenhagen Airport has grown rapidly the last 10 years with more and better connections to international destinations.
Between 2005 and 2015, Copenhagen Airport attracted 56 new routes including to destinations such as Toronto, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Dubai. More routes and departures mean more travellers coming to Denmark.
