Bulk Infrastructure breaks ground for colocation data centre in Denmark
In November 2018, Bulk Infrastructure decided to expands its presence in Denmark from subsea fibre cables to the establishment of a scalable carrier neutral colocation data centre in Esbjerg, Denmark. In March 2019, the company broke ground for its new colocation data centre with the expectation to finalise the project by the end of 2019.
We are excited about expanding our presence in Denmark from subsea fibre cables to now include a scalable carrier neutral colocation data centre. With multiple cable landings planned or already in place, and the landing of our new HAVFRUE trans-Atlantic cable system, this will bring both a convergence of networks and associated capacity to Esbjerg, together with creating a natural gateway into Bulk´s vast Nordic sustainable and cost-efficient digital infrastructure.
Denmark – the new digital hub of Northern Europe
The company believes that the Esbjerg location will play a key role providing ongoing connectivity to the data centres deployments within Denmark and the Nordics more broadly.“This location forms the perfect place for us to enable this neutral traffic exchange point in Denmark. We look forward to establishing good relations in the Danish market as well as the international market who wants a central location within the EU,” says Peder Nærbø.
“Offering the shortest time to market requires an integrated approach that leverages both assets, experience and expertise. In addition, you need to work close with the community. We are impressed with the local skills available in the community and the excellent support from Esbjerg Municipality and Invest in Denmark,” he adds.
Bulk Infrastructure has data centres in Norway and this is the first time the company has established outside the country.
Our strategy of attracting this type of data centre has been successful. This may well be the beginning of a new cluster, which will make Esbjerg Northern Europe’s most important digital hub.
