Denmark and The United States will strenghthen cooperation in quantum
Stronger together
Denmark and the United States share ambitions of developing quantum technology with focus on research, security and developing a vibrant private sector and robust supply chains.
Globally, Denmark and the United States are at the forefront of the development of quantum technology. The Joint Statement will leverage both countries’ strengths in quantum information science and technology (QIST) and QIST-enabling fields to pursue innovative research, grow the future marketplace, build a strong supply chain, and nurture the future generation of skills and talent.
The declaration highlights the good relations between the U.S. and Denmark with a particular emphasis on the role of the private sector in driving innovation and development across borders.
World leading quantum ecosystem
QIST is evolving rapidly. With an exponentially greater computing power than current computers, quantum computers will be able to revolutionise a wide range of areas – from the green transition and energy over health, communications and transportation.
International partnerships are key in unleashing the enormous potential of quantum technology. They will make it possible to combine the required expertise, ingenuity, and creativity in order to expand the use of quantum technology to solve problems outside laboratories.
The joint statement adds to the strong momentum of the Danish quantum ecosystem. This momentum was also increased earlier this year, as Denmark and the Niels Bohr Institute were selected as the location for the NATO Accelerator and test site for quantum technologies.
“Things are moving fast in Denmark. The NATO Accelerator and test site for Quantum Technologies show that Copenhagen remains the Capital of Quantum Mechanics and I am sure that our increased cooperation with American companies and research institutions will grow our world-class ecosystem further. I believe Denmark is again going to be an epicenter for the development of quantum and we stand ready to welcome and assist companies that want to join the Danish quantum ecosystem.”![]()
denmark's quantum strategy
Denmark has a strong research and education environment in the field of quantum due the legacy of Niels Bohr's pioneering research and considerable investments in basic research and research infrastructure. Building on this, Denmark is developing a broader whole-of-government quantum strategy with the aim of strengthening the ecosystem in Denmark to remain a front-runner. International cooperation with trusted partners, both public and private, will be a key element.WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE DANISH QUANTUM ECOSYSTEM?
