When an entire country is a cohort - Unique biobanks supporting personalized medicine

Join our webinar 28 April 2021 to learn more about the Danish nation-wide, comprehensive bio- and databanks with samples across generations and a strong methodology within the development of gene analysis and biomarkers (genomics and proteomics).
NB! We have changed our technical platform, so please use the link from the e-mail that you will receive 30 minutes before start - or click here to access the webinar. Do NOT use the link in the calendar invitation.

Denmark excels with its bio- and databanks

Biobanks are an important compound of personalized medicine and are central when accelerating the discovery and development of new drugs. Besides, biobanks play a key role in identification of new biomarkers.

This webinar will present three central institutions in the Danish research landscape within personalized medicine. All presentations will focus on concrete services and opportunities for collaboration and demonstrate how industry partners can benefit from collaborating with the Danish research community.

First, the Danish National Biobank, which main purpose is to give scientists from Denmark and abroad easy access to information from more than 25 million biological samples.

Second, the Nationwide Bio- and Genome Bank Denmark, which is a virtual national biobank with samples within e.g. cancer, rheumatology, diabetes, blood and Covid-19 that are available to national and international research projects.

Third, the Danish National Genome Center, which supports further development of more effective treatments, targeted the individual patient by the use of genome data and new technologies in Denmark.

Webinar program

  • Presentation of The Danish National Biobank by Lasse Boding, head of the Coordinating Centre at the Danish National Biobank (DNB)
    • The history and content of The Danish National Biobank.
    • Examples illustrating the potential of the biobank for development and/or use of personalized medicine.
    • The concrete services and opportunities for collaboration that The Danish National Biobank offers industry partners - how to proceed and the benefits of collaborating with Danish research community.
  • Presentation of the Bio- and Genome Bank Denmark by professor Estrid Høgdall, director of the Nationwide Bio- and Genome Bank Denmark
    • The content of Bio- and Genome Bank Denmark.
    • Research examples illustrating the potential of the biobank (for development and/or use of personalised medicine) and company references.
    • The services and opportunities for collaboration that the Bio- and Genome Bank Denmark offers industry partners - how to proceed and whom to contact?

  • Presentation of the Danish National Genome Center (NGC) by Bettina Lundgren, CEO of Danish National Genome Center
    • NGC, a corner stone in the Danish national strategy for personalized medicine.
    • The vision of NGC – where is NGC now? What to expect over the coming years?
    • The concrete services and opportunities for collaboration that NGC offers industry partners - how to proceed and whom to contact?

When an entire country is a cohort Webinar series on personalized medicine

The webinar is the second episode of an exciting 4-part webinar series on personalized medicine – from basic research to post-marketing activities.

Each episode will provide an overview of the Danish research infrastructure within a specific phase of the drug development process and an opportunity for virtual meetings with leading Danish researchers and physicians as well as key officials from public health data organizations, including biobanks, health data, clinical and technology research.

Attending the webinar series will provide a direct pathway to access the unique framework that Denmark offers for pharmaceutical companies for the research, development, and clinical use of personalized medicine.

The series will be free of charge and hosted by Invest in Denmark, a part of The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Danish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry.
