Join us at Datacloud Global Congress 2019 in Monaco
Meet Invest in Denmark at one of Europe’s largest data centre and cloud conferences in Europe, Datacloud Global Congress, to explore what makes Denmark an ideal location for data centres.
In recent years, several of the world’s large tech companies have decided to establish hyperscale data centres in Denmark due to the attractive framework conditions and the excellent opportunities to pursue cutting-edge green solutions.
- Apple is constructing a 166,000m2 data centre near Viborg and a second data centre near Aabenraa is announced as well.
- Facebook has selected our third largest city, Odense, for a 56,000m2 data centre.
- Google is building a data centre at a 73 hectares site in Fredericia, and furthermore acquired a 131 hectares site in Aabenraa.
Furthermore the number of colocation operators and facilities is growing in Denmark:
- Digiplex has acquired a data centre in Copenhagen and announced further expansion plans in Denmark.
- Bulk Infrastructure has acquired a site in Esbjerg.
- Global Connect and Interxion have continuously expanded their facilities in Denmark.
The reasons for choosing Denmark as the location for a data centre is among others:
- Denmark has one of Europe’s most reliable power grids with 99.997 pct. power grid uptime.
- The electricity costs in Denmark are far below the EU28 average. Towards 2022, the electricity costs in Denmark will be further reduced due to electricity tax reductions.
- Today, there is 72 pct. renewable energy in the power mix. By 2030 it will be 100 pct.
