World's largest factory for hydrogen fuelling stations to be placed in Denmark
H2 Logic A/S, a leading manufacturer of hydrogen fuelling stations has just purchased a facility in Herning, Denmark to develop a new large-scale production factory. When fully expanded, the factory will be the largest in the world and have an annual production capacity of 300 hydrogen filling stations.
9 million euro investment for state-of-the-art factory
With a total investment of 9 million euro, including a contingency of 10 %, H2 Logic intends to convert the facility into a state-of-the-art volume production factory for fuelling stations.
When ramp-up and plant optimization are complete, the facility will have a production capacity of up to 300 fuelling stations per year, sufficient for fuelling 200,000 new Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV).
Hence, the new factory facility in Denmark will be prepared for the next generation fuelling technology (H2Station®) that will offer major breakthroughs in areas like increased fuelling capacity and performance, reduced footprint as well as potential for significant cost reductions. The new H2Station® technology has been designed for lean volume manufacturing which is essential to achieve sufficient scale benefits.
We have spent the last years developing and perfecting a new generation of H2Station® technology and preparing it for lean volume manufacturing. This will enable us to meet the infrastructure market demand stemming from the car manufacturers’ introduction of FCEVs to global market regions for years to come.
Denmark – a world-leader in the fuel cell industry
Denmark has a significant fuel cell cluster, which is famous for its strong collaborations between research institutions, manufacturers, system integrators and enablers, service and maintenance providers, public authorities, and the end users.
Hence, Denmark offers a number of stimulating business solutions for foreign companies, such as R&D collaboration with Danish universities, strategic partnerships regarding tests and demonstration projects, and of course the actual production of fuel cells.
“The establishment of the factory underlines Denmark's competencies in hydrogen and hydrogen technology in which Denmark is a world leader,” says Peder Bo Sørensen, Cleantech Special Advisor at Invest in Denmark.
H2 Logic will start to relocate to the new facility in the second half of 2016, and will complete the rebuild and relocation during 2017.
