Transforming Industries and Fostering Sustainable Aviation Through Green Hydrogen
KGAL Investment Management, overseeing €16 billion/DKK 120 billion for institutional and private investors in real estate, sustainable infrastructure, and aviation, has recently launched the Article 9 Impact fund ESPF 6. This fund focuses on new hydrogen infrastructure projects in the EU and UK, with a particular spotlight on advancing eco-friendly synthetic aviation fuels (eSAF).
Arcadia eFuels' hydrogen production facility in Vordingborg (South of Zealand) has captured KGAL's attention as a highly promising investment. The plant, set to commence operations by mid-2026, aims to annually manufacture around 68,000 tons of eSAF. This production volume could power an Airbus A320 from Munich to London approximately 15,000 times. Aligning with the EU's recent mandates for departing flights, the investment contributes to achieving 2% eSAFs in kerosene by 2025, increasing to 6% by 2030, and soaring to an ambitious 70% by 2050.
"From aviation and logistics to the steel and chemical industries, from water treatment to agriculture – almost anywhere that direct decarbonisation through green power reaches its limits, green hydrogen can be the solution."
