Suzlon opens new blade science centre in Denmark
The new centre will focus on developing the next generation of wind turbines. Hence, the company will accelerate their research in air foils and rotor systems to continue to reduce the Levelised Cost of Energy (LCoE) and increase the Plant Load Factor (PLF) for their customers.
Leverage of the Danish talent pool in wind technology
The new centre will be led by the Dr. Thomas Buhl who comes from a position as Head of Section of wind turbine structures at the Technical University of Denmark and now joins Suzlon Energy as Vice President.
The new blade centre is aligned to our vision of being the technology leader in the global wind sector. Technology will be the key enabler to achieve this. Denmark is the birthplace of wind technology and we will leverage the experience and expertise of the talent pool there in our innovation efforts as we develop our next generation of turbines.
Danish is a world leading centre for wind power
Denmark is a world leading centre for wind turbine research and technology development, where universities, test centres and global wind energy companies work closely together.
Combined with a unique value chain of sub-suppliers, the Danish wind energy hub is an ideal location for developing, testing and manufacturing wind power equipment in close cooperation with energy utilities and developers.
In Denmark, 30 % of the energy supply is generated from wind and fully integrated in the supply system. Therefore, Denmark holds extensive knowledge of integration of wind power in power systems and the implications for wind turbines.
