Canadian energy storage leader sets up Danish R&D operations in Copenhagen

Sterling PBES has announced the creation of Sterling PBES ApS in Copenhagen. The investment creates technology-based jobs in Denmark with a focus on R&D in clean energy marine and grid solutions.
Sterling PBES provides clean and quiet propulsion for ships, ferries and port equipment as well as smooth renewable energy power fluctuations in the national grid. It is versatile, robust and known for being the safest lithium-ion battery system ever produced.

According to Sterling PBES ApS, a key deciding factor for choosing Copenhagen is Denmark’s position as a frontrunner in the green transition with strong framework conditions supporting R&D in clean energy technologies.

"Denmark leads in building industry and technology that will improve the quality of the world we live in. It is a testament to vision and commitment that resides in their spirit. This spirit will change the face of the entire globe through demonstration and practical proof of the economic and social viability of large-scale adoption of clean energy."

Sterling PBES has announced the creation of Sterling PBES ApS in Copenhagen.

The Danish spirit also reflects in the ambitions enshrined in the legally binding Climate Act, which the Danish parliament passed in June 2020. The Act sets one of the most ambitious targets in the world of reducing emissions by 70% before 2030 compared to 1990-levels. This is a testament to Denmark’s commitment to the green transition and the annual climate action plans support the transition by specific initiatives. The first part of the climate action plan passed the Parliament in June 2020, and presents specific action points and allocates funds to reduce emissions in the energy sector and industry by 3.4 million tonnes in 2030.

The green transition requires international cooperation and investments, and Sterling PBES will contribute to the transition to clean energy in Denmark. Executives at Sterling PBES have been working with Invest in Denmark at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Copenhagen Capacity to develop relationships that will bring rewards to Northern Europe.
