RWE in Denmark

Denmark is an important market for RWE due to high potential for offshore wind along both the Norths Sea coast and the Baltic Sea coast, which can make Denmark a huge provider of offshore energy to the rest of Europe.

Denmark has a strong wind ecosystem and it is one of the countries, where wind power was developed first. Furthermore, there is a strong acknowledgement of the potential that offshore wind holds in Denmark and the wind ecosystem holds a vast collection of supply chain companies, service companies and a lot of know-how in the Danish society about wind that makes Denmark an attractive market.

RWE sees additional opportunities in Denmark especially in the field of offshore wind due to the Danish government’s announcement of auction volume to come to the market in future years. Denmark is also a part of the cord between the North Sea states to build out 300 GW of offshore wind by 2050.

Also other opportunities such as power-to-x and turning offshore wind power e.g. into green hydrogen is a perspective, which will be important for both Denmark and RWE.

RWE is leading the way to a green energy world

With an extensive investment and growth strategy, RWE will expand its powerful, green generation capacity to more than 50 gigawatts internationally by 2030. RWE employs around 19,000 people worldwide and has a clear target: to get to net zero by 2040. On its way there, the company has set ambitious objectives for all activities that cause greenhouse gas emissions.
